Community conservation groups

Kaitaia 4WD club are aiming to improve the image of recreational four wheel drivers by joining forces with the Department of Conservation, the local community and iwi to protect these valuable midden sites along the west coast south of Ninety Mile beach.
The club is a member of the New Zealand 4WD Association and club members believe that it's possible to enjoy the sport without trashing the environment.
Tauroa is their playground and they want to be involved in looking after it.
